Pema inducts ten Cabinet Ministers, amidst report of AICC interference

ITANAGAR, Aug 3: After prolonged delay because of absence of Governor In charge Tathagata Roy, Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday inducted ten cabinet ministers; Tanga Byaling, Rajesh Tacho, Nabam Rebia, Honchun Ngandam, Wangki Lowang, Kamlung Mossang, Tapang Taloh, Kumar Waii, Takam Pario and Jomde Kena who were sworn in amidst presence of who’s who of the state. Governor Roy administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed Cabinet Ministers of the State at the Darbar Hall, Raj Bhavan here.
‘Old guards’ of former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki’s second term cabinet is fully back in new Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s council of ministers. Other than Nabam Rebia and Wangki Lowang, who are first time ministers, remaining others are known face who have already served the state as cabinet ministers during Tuki’s government.
With induction of Tanga Byaling, Nabam Rebia, Rajesh Tacho and Tapang Taloh in the Cabinet, it ended the week-long speculation that former CM Tuki had greater role in deciding the fates of MLAs who were with him during the crisis. Rumours were doing round that former CM had recommended and threw his weight behind these four legislators who are considered to be his close confidants after political reconciliation with CM Pema Khandu. However, former CM in a telephonic interview with this daily has already denied this report saying he didn’t recommend anyone for ministerial berth.
Apparently, All India Congress Committee (AICC) finally acknowledged the contribution of former education minister Tapang Taloh who literally pointed fingers, during an verbal spat with Governor JP Rajkhowa over pre-poning of the Assembly. Taloh managed to out-race two front-runners Mebo MLA Lombo Tayeng and Dambuk MLA Gum Tayeng.
It was reported that Chief Minister Pema Khandu was being constantly pressurized by his party high command in choosing the cabinet ministers.
However, AICC Secretary K. Jayakumar outrightly denied the reports and said full freedom was given to Chief Minister to pick his team. K. Jayakumar has been overseeing the political development of Arunachal Pradesh after the Supreme Court verdict.
It is also reported that CM Pema had to walk in a tight-rope in deciding the cabinet ministers to maintain the political balance and equation. Tirap, Londging and Changlang(TCL) area got three ministers in Honchun Ngandam, Wangki Lowang, Kamlung Mossang. Interestingly, none of legislators from Tawang and West Kameng area was inducted in the council of ministers which is seen as a sacrifice made by representatives of Mon region from where the current Chief Minister belong to.
So far, the frontier state has witnessed four cabinet ministers swearing in ceremonies including one “unconstitutional” under Kalikho Pul’s government within span of three years.
Law and order situation in U/Subansiri
DC concerned over juvenile crime

DAPORIJO, Aug 3: Though there was a significant improvement in law and order situation in the last three years in Upper Subansiri there is still a lot to do to further improve the situation, said Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom.
While reviewing the law and order situation of the district in a meeting with the SP, HoDs, market and colony welfare committees in his office chamber here on Wednesday, Dulom said that most of the crimes recorded in the district are committed by juveniles which is a matter of serious concern.
The people are still afraid of walking alone on the street in the evening and night time which has become a major challenge for the law enforcing authority, Dulom said.
Citing the recent murder of a CRPF jawans, Dulom stressed on the importance of checking drugs abuse and alcoholism among students and youths to prevent such crimes. He sought cooperation from all in district administration’s efforts to control crimes.
Peace is prerequisite for all round development, said SP Taru Gusar. He appealed to the people of various communities in the district to live in perfect harmony and maintain the spirit and sense of brotherhood and oneness for progress.
Law and order is normal and under control except some sporadic incidents, he said. The SP also said there was nothing specific reason for crimes in the district.
According to him, some of the main reasons of crimes were dispute among family members over property, sudden brawl under the influence of drugs, alcohol etc.
He mostly blamed carelessness and irresponsibility of parents and guardians towards their children for most of the crimes.
The SP gave emphasis on counseling of the swayed away juveniles, most of who are orphan, by NGOs, police and other welfare organizations.
He also said that parents and guardians of majority of the criminal juveniles are poor and illiterate. They are totally ignorant about what their children are doing, he said while justifying the need for conducting awareness programme.
He also stressed on the importance of immediate and proper functioning of Juvenile Justice Board, creation of shelter houses for the juvenile as there are certain legal complicacies in dealing with the criminal juvenile.
With regards to traffic issue, he suggested parents not to encourage the minors drive vehicles.
Informing that a separate traffic cell has been created to control traffic, he appealed to the owners to get their new vehicles immediately registered. He also appealed to all to follow the rules of the road. Violators would be penalized, he added.
Secretary of Gandhi Market Tapen Nguki, ATYO president Tade Markia urged the administration to check the drugs and liquor menace at the earliest.
Gorge Colony Welfare Committee Secretary Tajum Maro also expressed concern over growing drugs menace and appealed police to check the problem before it becomes uncontrollable.
Students question appointments

Roing, Aug 3: The All Idu Mishmi Students Union (AIMSU), irate over the trend of illegal appointments in various departments of the district, have expressed huge disappointment over the recent appointments of contractual Panchayat Technical Assistants for Roing Block Anchal Samiti vide order number PR-RGPSA (TA)670/2014 (Pt)/294, released on 13.07.2016.
"We have been fighting against illegal appointments since some time now and have very recently submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary regarding the matter, demanding 100% job reservation in C and D grades within the district. This recent appointment of the PTAs is a mockery and a slap on the face of our fight", said GS AIMSU Eha Mili.
Mili added that it is shocking to learn that the appointments were made through higher level instead of a district level walk-in interview as expected and anticipated by the aspiring youth of the district, that too without any advertisement for applying for the job. He also informed that these appointments were made without the knowledge of the District Zilla Parishad and the concern authority meant to conduct the interview as in the past.
"There are a number of unemployed youth in the district who are qualified for jobs which are filled in without any intimation or proper job advertisements and interviews. This trend is a serious issue hampering the overall growth and development of the society as a whole, and has to be put to an end. We have spoken with the Deputy Commissioner, Roing about the matter and have demanded that the appointments be revoked and redressed in three days time, failing which the AIMSU will be forced to choose a democratic form of movement for justice", added Mili.
Health and Education on Pema’s priority list
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: Chief Minister Pema Khandu who presided over the first meeting of the newly constituted Cabinet on Wednesday made several key decisions. Keeping prime social sectors like education and health high on agenda, the Cabinet has unanimously decided to accord a holistic approach to streamline these prime sectors for welfare of the people.
The Cabinet directed the departments of health and education to prepare holistic proposals which fill all gaps and live up to people’s aspirations for implementation by the Government.
“Let us make Arunachal Pradesh a cent percent literate and healthy state” the Cabinet resolved.
In this regard the Cabinet approved for creation of posts for establishment of office of the deputy Director of School Education in Longding and Capital Complex. It further directed the department to submit proposal for creation of DDSE Office in all the newly created districts in the state.
The Cabinet also gave a positive nod to “Arunachal Pradesh Anatomy bill” to be tabled in the ensuing assembly session. While the state is soon to see new Medical College and Homeopathy Colleges, this decision of the cabinet will prove to be a big step forward in terms of medical education in the state.
Appreciating the hard work put in by the drivers, the state Cabinet approved enhancement of grade pay of drivers from the existing Rs. 1900 to Rs. 2400. The Cabinet further cleared many cases of pay anomalies in various departments that were lying pending for long. (P R Cell, CM's Secretariat)
Citizens, admin repair road
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: Over 50 members from Bameng Town’s People Forum (BTPF) along with ADC and his staff carried out maintenance works of 5 Km stretch of road from Pineapple garden to Bameng town as part of a social service conducted under the supervision of BTPF, President, Tani Liyak and Secretary, Maje Tallo on Tuesday.
The said road was damaged due to flood water which caused deep pot holes in the road and made movement of vehicles difficult. During the drive the volunteers filled up the potholes with soil to make the road motorable again.
Further, the Forum in its release claimed that despite repeated pleas to the RWD, the department did not carry out any repair work which prompted it to carry out the maintenance work itself with support of the ADC.
Sick mother left abandoned in hospital by son
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: A 75-year-old woman, who was left abandoned by her son at Tomo Riba State Hospital (TRSH) on July 25, has been rescued and re-united with her family members through joint effort by Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA), Arunachal Vivekananda Yuva Shakti, Woman Helpline and Police.
Bojeswari Burman, who was suffering from severe diarrhea and in need of urgent medical attention, was intentionally left abandoned in the hospital by her son and daughter in-law, who are currently residing in C-Sector. Naharlagun.
The son and daughter-in-law left their mother abandoned in the hospital, when the Dr Gomi Basar attending the patient asked them to bring medicines.
The son and the daughter in-law were still untraceable until one person gave information about their whereabouts after six days of door to door search operation by the members of APSLSA and Arunachal Vivekananda Yuva Shakti.
They were caught with the help of SI Ijum Basar, SI K.Dev and OC Naharlagun Nikomm Riba.
A wide circulation, in this regard was also given on social media besides informing Naharlagun and Nirjuli police.
It was revealed after inquiry that all the family members were staying with her eldest daughter in-law at C sector, Naharlagun. When the health of the old lady worsened, they had dumped her at door-step of the younger son, who later further dumped the mother at TRSH.
The APSLSA team with the help of Naharlagun Police station took an undertaking from the sons and daughters in-law that they will take care of the old lady and Rs 2000 per month will be given to their old mother.
Disheartened by the ill treatment meted out to her by their sons and daughter in-laws, the poor woman has reportedly decided to leave for her home town Coochbehar soon.

APSCW for proper investigation into alleged molestation case
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: A team of Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) led by its Chairperson Mitali Tingkhatra on Tuesday visited Ziro to gather first hand information about the alleged sexual harassment of a woman by DMO Dr. Moli Riba, where the team met the Superintend of Police (SP), the OC of Ziro Police Station and the victim.
During discussion, the team pressed SP Tage Habung and OC T Messer for proper investigation of the case.
APSCW Chairperson Tingkhatra said that a State Complaints Committee (SCC) has been constituted as per the guidelines of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 with all the Deputy Commissioners as District Officer to monitor such complaints of sexual harassment.
All Head of Department/Autonomous organizations have also been instructed to constitute Internal Complaint Committee/Local Complaint comprising three senior female officers/staff of the department, to initiate step to prevent sexual harassment of women in the department. However, the Act is not properly implemented, lamented the chairperson.
Saying that many incidents of such sexual harassments at work place go unreported due to obvious reasons, the APSCW chairperson admired the courage of the woman involved in the recent Ziro incident for standing up against such immoral acts.
The Commission also appreciated the family members for extending her all support in seeking justice.
SLDC not informed on power shutdown by PGCIL
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: State’s Dept of Power said that the proposed Shut down of the 132 KV Ranganadi-Ziro Transmission line is not in the knowledge of the Sate Load Despatch Centre. While reacting to a new item published in this daily, State Load Despatch Centre (SLDC) said that it is the nodal agency of the state to exercise supervision, monitoring and control of all grid related operations and as such, no shutdown of any element of the grid system can take place without its knowledge and consent. Even if such Shutdown is warranted due to urgency of the work, as stated by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), it shall be co¬ordinated by the SLDC to ensure minimum disturbances and after consultation with all stake holders to reduce difficulties to the consumers, informed, Chief Engineer A.Perme, Dept of Power.
Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd had informed the likely shutdown of the transmission line for at least 15 days affecting power supply to Lower Subansiri, Upper Subansisri, Kra Daadi, Kurung Kumey, East Siang, West Siang, Upper Siang and some parts of Papum Pare on Tuesday.
Taking a view on the media reports on the matter of Shutdown affecting eight Districts of central Arunachal, the issue is being discussed in a high level meeting at Pasighat on Aug 4-5 to be chaired by the Commissioner, Power, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh, said an official communiqué.
It further added that the matter will also be raised in the 124th OCC forum of North East Power Committee (NERPC) by the Department of Power, to be held on 8th August 2016 in Meghalaya.
CM prioritize early completion of assembly & civil secretariat buildings
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: Chief Minister Pema Khandu visited new Arunachal State Assembly Building on Wednesday to take stock of the construction work in progress. CM said that Arunachal Civil Secretariat and State Legislative Assembly Buildings are the priority schemes of the govt which must be completed in time. He asked the executing agency to fix responsibilities and to see that the works progress as per the stipulated timeline. He said that there will be no scarcity of fund flow and it shall be released to the department as per the requirement in composite sanction. However, he urged them to strictly maintain the milestone and to complete the building on the scheduled date by December 31, 2016.
State Legislative Assembly Speaker, Tenzing Norbu Thongdok informed the Chief Minister that 70% of the building was physically completed. He further apprised that out of original estimate of Rs 135.85 Crore, expenditure of Rs 78 Crore has been made till date and requested the Chief Minister to release the balance amount of Rs 57.85 Crore saying that regular flow of fund is essential to complete the work in time.
Chief Minister requested the Speaker to regularly monitor the progress of works to which the latter assured to supervise the works till completion. Chief Secretary Shakuntala Gamlin suggested for outsourcing the agency through Skill Development Department for House Keeping, Security and Cafeteria for the Arunachal Civil Secretariat and State Legislative Assembly Building.
The new State Legislative Assembly Building spreading around 19075 sq. Meter (including open space) will have Office Chamber for Speaker & Deputy Speaker, CM, CS, General Conference Hall, Assembly Hall with seating capacity for 120 members, Legislative Section, Treasury Bench, Opposition Bench, Cultural Hall & Recreational Hall with space for parking around 300 vehicles inside the compound, informed Rotu Techi, SE PWD Capital A Division.
Chief Minister was also accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Ministers Kamlung Mossang and Honchun Ngandam, Commissioner (Finance) Ashish Kundra, Secretary (Planning & IPR) Joram Beda among others. (PR Cell, CM secretariat)
Messi XI champion of Siang Football tournament
ITANAGAR, Aug 03: Messi XI became champion of the first ever football tournament organized by District Football Association (DFA), Siang defeating Mori XI 2-0 in the final at Pagin on July 30.
Angel Panggam and Etor Taki were adjudged as the best players, and best goalkeeper of the tournament respectively. Kangk-inanm Melong became the highest scorer.
The best disciplined team prize was won by Koreng Soccer Club, according to organizing committee sources.
In total, 19 teams participated in the tournament.
Solung football: Donggin Ao, Siang United register wins
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: Donggin Ao and Siang United won their respective matches against Barbi FC and Doying Golong in league level matches of the Itanagar Solung Football Tournament at APPBn Ground, Chimpu near here on Wednesday.
Donggin Ao beat Barbi FC 2-0 in the first match of the day while Siang United defeated Doying Golong 3-2 in the second match.
Thomas Gaduk and Bajoy Tabang scored one goal each for Donggin Ao in 43rd and 47th minute respectively. Thomas Gaduk was adjudged player of the match.
Miloko Nobeng and Nong Nangkar were the scorers of Siang United while the first goal of the team was an own goal.
Honuk Tayeng scored both the goals for his team Doying Golong.
Students advised to take part in co-curricular activities
YUPIA, Aug 3: Director NIT, Prof. C. T. Bhunia advised the students to associate with the NCC, scouts and guide, attend library, indulge in co-curricular activities and prepare research papers to gain knowledge and excel in their examination.
He said this while addressing the National institute of Technology organized orientation programme for the batch of 2016-17, here at its temporary site wherein 141 (UG Course) students, parents and faculty members of the university were present.
He further appealed to the students to be punctual and hardworking.
Assistant Registrar (Academic), Taba Tadhe Goyang further said that orientation programme has been so designed as to enable the new students to know tools that are available for the effective participation in the institute.

GWS calls on CM & deputy CM
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: A team consisting of Galo Welfare Society (GWS) and its various frontal organisations including Galo Peoples’ Front (GPF) and Galo Student Union (GSU) lead by GWS President Dr.Mitum Boje and General Secretary Dr. Minge Loyi called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and newly inducted Cabinet Minister Jomde Kena.
On behalf of GWS Dr.Mitum Boje assured all possible cooperation and support in implementing various policies and developmental paradigms of the government. Meanwhile, he also submitted a memorandum on various issues concerning state in general and Galo inhabited areas in particular. The notable proposals being restoration of Zirdo-Kadu inter district road connectivity and thereby declaring it as a State highway, creation of new districts, establishment of Central divisional headquarter and AIIMS at Basar, road connectivity along the foothill region of state. The Chief Minister after patiently hearing the various proposals point by point shared that, he shall be prioritising the various proposals as submitted and shall steadfastly implement the same in due course of time. He stressed on leveraging the education sector and highlighted that the community based organisations have a huge role to play in this regard.
He was categorical on youth empowerment and their engagement in having social revolution and harmonious growth of the State through better education. He shared that he is planning to engage with community based organisation at different level for equitable growth and inclusive development of the State.
To marry or not to marry

"When a person is in trouble, and the problems of life seems insurmountable, one should get married, troubles will become more benign because all other problems becomes smaller compared with marital so and so." This was a Sunday testimony from a Youngman who was to get married on Monday. It brought a peal of laughter instantly, followed by a moment of silence on introspection. While driving back from church in my Caribbean blue color alto, the words of that young man kept rankling in my mind, and I started reflecting on various marital advise I was offered.
Of particular interest was the advice given by the then Chief Secretary of Haryana, who had come as a senior guest lecturer and to interact with probationers who had just joined civil service. What he had to say was, "Young men, always keep in mind, marriage management is as difficult and important as your career management. Give equal time and importance to marriage and career." It was a sagely advice, and my appreciation for it grows as I grow older in my marriage and career. The trick is to balance between being a loving and caring spouse and not getting taken for granted.
Another aphorism on marriage I got was, when I met a senior who had just got married. On being congratulated, he expressed that there wasn’t much to celebrate and followed up with the quip " Khao to bhi Pachtao, nahin khao bhi to pachtao. Main ne khake hi pachtane ka faisla kiya." Loosely translated, it means that marriage is something which you repent when you do it, and also repent when you don’t do. So, it is better to taste and repent, then repenting without testing at all. This doesn’t sound very optimistic.
Nevertheless marriage is not a continuous saga of bed of roses, it has its roses and fragrances, but it also has its thorns and stenches. Marriage, like a plant needs continuous tending and caring, occasional dose of fertilizers and pruning are needed to keep marriage thriving and blissful.
But the particular incident which brings forth spontaneous mirth to my face, is of a incident with a very close friend of mine back at Ziro. We are three friends, who always seems to be looking for peace of mind everywhere and calling for ceasefire with our spouses after having wrongly ( from other half's point of view) stepped on their toes. One particular incident which made one of us really go red with embarrassment and a feeling of emptiness when our ego is pricked like that of air out of balloon, happened this way. It was one of those moments when everything in marriage seems to go wrong, and the better half is in full battle gear ready to defend her sphere of influence within the marital kingdom, and any overtures for ceasefire seems to bounce back with increased intensity of hostility. Every attempt on the part of husband to bring some peace seems to be adding fuel to the fire. Man, he was in his most desperate moments.
Then like a streak of light beyond the dark cloud, wife speaks to him in the most gentle words…
" ............ from whatever is happening in our marriage, I have come of the opinion that I must get married to you even in our next birth."
My friends faced suddenly became brighter with anticipated pride , chest instantaneously expanded with ego being pumped up. Atleast, he thought so. .......
In the same tone, wife continued, " ... next birth .. yes, next birth, when we are married, I will be your husband and you shall be my wife. I shall come with same attitude as you have of me now. Only then shall we appreciate each others travail." With this simple word, whatever pride my friend had built up in his own right throughout the life went out with a puff, like a wind out of balloon.
This is a true incident which has happened within a very close circle of friends. For modesty's sake, I shall refrain from taking his name.
Marriage needs empathy more than sympathy. Learning to look at things from other half's perspective certainly helps in appreciating each other by accepting each other's differences. We are individuals with our own sense of biases and opinions, characters imbibed through our environment and family and also by our genetical make up. Each of us needs sufficient personal space to maneuver our emotions and moods, our aspirations and desires, our hopes and despair. Very often than not, we fail to look at things from our spouse's perspective, and also from accepting the fact that there is a difference of perspective and it is better to respect each other’s perspective rather than prevail our opinion on our hapless other half. These are little thoughts about marriage, which I felt might help us to have a healthier marriage life.
By no stretch of imagination, I can vouch I have perfect marriage. Far far far from it. But knowing the facts about marriage may help us to untangle occasional misunderstanding that crops up in our marriage. Accepting the marriage as it is and not live in utopian world idealism, will help to see the thorns and ditches, and to be prepared for eventuality if it cannot be avoided. Like death, marriage is made in heaven. No one knows when where and how it will happen till it happens. But how we view and live our marriage is in our hand and attitude.

Fire in Nafra, CM express concern
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: The Chief Minister’s office has informed that a fire broke out in the main market of the Nafra Township in West Kameng on Tuesday evening and gutted at least three SPT houses while one government quarter and few classrooms of a nearby government school were partially damaged.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu has expressed concern over the fire mishap and has directed the district administration to immediately take stock of the damages and provide relief to the victims.
Extending sympathy with the victims, whose houses and properties were damaged, Khandu assured all possible assistance for their relief and rehabilitation from the state government. He directed the department concerned to assess the loss and compensate as per norms.
The Chief Minister appealed people to maintain extreme caution with regard to fire and sought creating awareness to prevent such recurring mishaps in the state.
CMO has been informed that the district administration, on receipt of the news, had rushed fire tenders to take control of the inferno. West Kameng Deputy Commissioner along with officers visited the spot Wednesday and distributed relief to the house owners.
Traffic across Diphunallah prohibited
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: Lower Dibang Valley District Magistrate through an executive order prohibited movement of traffic across Diphunallah with immediate effect until completion of the bridge over the river.
The prohibitory order has been issued for safety of the commuters.
Khrimey writes to Gohain for more trains
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: Former Minister and Bhartiya Janta Party leader R K Khrimey has written to the Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain for increasing the train service between Itanagar and Delhi two times a week as well as provision of additional AC coaches for Naharlagun-Guwahati.
He said that weekly train to New Delhi from Itanagar is highly overcrowded and many intending passengers from State do not get reservations. Further, Khrimey said that Daily intercity Express to Guwahati is overcrowded for AC 2 and AC 3 coaches. He said that in order to ensure security to women, children, old-aged, it is necessary to start SHATABDI Daily Service from Itanagar.
Khrimey has already met the Minister on this matter on July 29.
Tree plantation by army and forest dept
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: The Department of Environment and Forest in collaboration with Indian Army organized a plantation drive in the army campus Yingkiong recently.
Over 200 fruit bearing tree saplings were planted with individual tree guards with the help of Range Forest Officer (Yingkiong) Obian Jongkey.
On the occasion, DFO Annying Boli and Col Bidhur Sharma highlighted the importance of tree and wildlife in maintaining a balance in eco-system.
The DFO further exhorted the jawans of Indian Army to plant trees wherever they are deployed in future and also to maintain a good relationship with civilians.
Meeting of Child Welfare Committee held
KHONSA, Aug 3: A meeting of child welfare committee of Tirap district was held in the Circuit House on Wednesday which was attended by Tirap ZPC, CWC chairman, DCPO, members, CDPOs and HoDs.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Director, (ICDS) A. Lowangcha who is also the district child protection officer dwelt at length on various clauses of juvenile justice (care and protection of children) Act, 2015 and urged the members to work sincerely to safeguard the safety and security of the children who are the most vulnerable section of the society. She also threw light on Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Cooperation in Inter-country Adoption (1993), procedures of child adoption, child care institutions, Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, general principles of care and protection of children, child welfare committee, procedures in relation to children in need of care and protection, rehabilitation and social re-integration and on the entire gamut of facets vis-a-vis child care.
Chairperson of CWC, T. Tongluk in his address, exhorted the members of CWC to extend their cooperation in order to make the committee truly functional. Members of the CWC including, P. APEDA outreach prog. on organic farming
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board (APAMB) organized a two days outreach programme on organic farming for the officials of Department of Agriculture at the Directorate of Agriculture, Naharlagun.
Commissioner (Agri) Hage Khoda, who attended the inaugural session, informed about the state government’s willingness to transform Arunachal into an eco-friendly and organic farming state. He also highlighted the government’s various initiatives to encourage organic farming among the farmers.
During the two day session, eminent scientist on organic agriculture Dr AK Yadav, who also is adviser to Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, enlightened the participant about the various aspects of organic farming and its benefits.
He also informed how Sikkim achieved the status of the country’s first organic State in six years only.
NHM staff no more
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: Kuru Tadii, District Community Mobilizer of Kra Daadi has died on Aug 2 last after a brief illness. Son of Kuru Doilang, late Tadii had joined the NHM on March 12, 2012 at Tawang and was recently transferred to Kra Daadi district.
Meanwhile, the officials and staffs of the Directorate office of National Health Mission Naharlagun have deeply mourned the demise of Tadii. They also observed 2 minutes silence and prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul.
While extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, NHM, Mission Director, P.N Thungon prayed to the almighty to bestow enough strength to them to bear the irreparable loss.
Health Camp
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: In view of the Intensified Diarrhoea control fortnight, a health camp was conducted at Changwanti on Wednesday in Anjaw district. It was organized by District Health Society in association with District Administration.
During the day long camp, besides routine medical checkup and free distribution of medicines, Immunization and IEC activities on diarrheal control, importance of Antenatal check up and Immunization were also carried out.
Earlier, IDCF was launched at Government Middle School Hawai in presence of DC Anjaw Mamata Riba, DCCI President Mayoso Pul and other PRI members on July 29.
The camp was attended by DMO Anjaw Dr K.Perme, Dr M.Pertin and Dr.S.Bardhan of CHC Hawai and other paramedical workers.
AKDDSU demands re-advertisement of NIT
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: All Kra Daadi District Students’ Union (AKDDSU) has demanded re-advertisement of the NIT published in a local daily in June this year for the work of designing, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 50 KW power capacity of Off Grid Solar Power Plants at 50-bed hospital at Jorung, Palin in Kra Daadi district.
The students union in its complaint letter to the Director of Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA) stated that the NIT has been floated in a local daily only that too without mentioning the date of publishing the advertisement.
It further alleged that the entire tendering process right from inviting tender to opening tender has been done without maintaining the process. It strongly objected to awarding the work to any individual, firm or company without floating the advertisement afresh failing which AKDDSU threatened to launch democratic movement against the tendering authority.
Prohibit roaming of stray animals
ITANAGAR, Aug 3: Claiming that stray animals are polluting the market and highway besides, causing many traffic accidents, the Banderdewa Karsingsa Youth Welfare Association (BKYWA) has in a letter to the Capital Complex DC on Wednesday, appealed to him to issue an order strictly prohibiting stray as well as domestic animal within the market and highway of Banderdewa Circle.

Herculean task ahead for BJP
The decision of Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel to resigned is expected to have wide ranging effect on BJP's prospects in the coming state elections. Even though she cited age related factors but it is widely believed that her inability to deal with recent dalit agitation and last year's Patel agitation forced her to resign. Gujarat which goes to poll next year is stronghold of BJP and home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However the events of last one year has shaken BJP leadership and there is fear that party may lose poll next year if Anandiben continues as CM. She completely messed up Patel agitation which erupted last year. Patel's a powerful community are traditional BJP supporters.
But they have veered away from party and this has deeply worried BJP. Adding to it, the Una incident where 4 Dalits were publicly beaten up for allegedly skinning death cow and subsequent protests by dalit groups across the country against the incident has further dented her image. BJP think thank are pinning hope that her removal followed by election of new Chief Minister will calm down the situation. But things does not look good for the saffron party. BJP's tacit support of cow protection vigilantes has not gone down well with dalit, muslims and other lower caste groups. In the name of cow protection, dalit and muslim are facing regular harassment across the India. BJP government be it at centre or in states has been soft towards cow protection volunteers. It might take huge effort on part of BJP to win back the trust of these oppressed groups. Especially in UP where dalit constitute huge chunk of voters, the saffron party will have lot to answer.

Ban mobile phones inside exam halls
Dear Editor,
I would like to request the concern authorities of the forthcoming WRD JE exam to conduct frisking process through a single entrance in each of the exam centers. The use of mobile phone during exam is prevalent especially in JE exams but authorities are acting as a mute spectator. When a hard working candidate scores seventy percent, he is very satisfied but when he realizes that the guy who used to roam around with alcohol the day before the exam has outscored him just because that guy had used his mobile phone inside the exam hall, it is very disheartening. The candidate who gets selected this way will continue this trick in the department works also. This is one of the reasons why our state is lagging behind other state of India in almost every field. Why does it that poor and hardworking and law fear candidate has to suffer always? Please do something about this.
I know that it is useless to request the authorities, but just for God's sake, please do strictly check the possession of mobile phone inside the exam hall and let the law abiding, hardworking and deserving candidate reap their grain of success for a better and advanced Arunachal.

Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I on behalf of Immediate Downstream Peoples' Affected Forum (IDPAF) would like to point out the reasons why we oppose Phanchung Hydro Electric Project being executed by Kolkata based CESC Company.
Pachi camp is confluence of mighty Kameng and Pachi Rivers before it head towards Seppa Town. Moreover, the GMR Pvt Ltd Company proposed to construct a 245 megawatts power in Kameng River known as Tallang Londa Hydro Power Project which is a short span of 1(one) kilometer away from Pachi Camp and then the CESC pvt Ltd Kolkata based Company also surveyed various social impact to construct a dam of 47 megawatts over Pachi River. The dual dams within a short span of a kilometer is not acceptable.
Immediate Downstream Peoples' Affected Forum has been opposing the negative impacts of these two dams and the main reasons for opposing are:

Fraud agents
Dear Editor,
Through your esteem daily, I would like to aware all the denizens of the state that there are many fraudsters who in pretext of providing car loan, bank loan are scamming people with their money. They disguise themselves as agent for providing loan and ask people for some percentage of money for paperwork. Many of our innocent citizens have fallen victims. Don't be their next victim. Because of such fraudster, bank manager refuses loan even to genuine people as scammer defaults their banks.
Fraudsters disguise themselves as agent of institutions of higher studies by luring our innocent students. But when the student go to the institutions, they realizes that the agent was a fraud.
In some cases, many students come back empty handed as there are no institutions as promised by the agents.
So my dear fellow citizens beware of such agents. Always verify before taking any step in such case. Don't be their next victim.
